1. this year in math i learned a lot of things, i learned how to capture an image from the calculator, i learned how to do the Alice in wonderland task, Fireworks task, and community box maker task.

1. Todays overall task was finding the minimum let there be a surface area function with my can's volume alraedy substituted.

2. It is neccessary because we want to reduce the Surface Area and keep the same volume, and the graph is what will help us find the smallest surface area.

1.The new function is going to be used to cmake a connection with the volume and the surface area formulas. The goal to finding this new function is for h to be alone at the end on one side and on the otherside should be simplified until it can't be.

2. The relationship it shows is the radius is the independent variable and the surface area is the depedndent variable.

the most important concept of todays lesson was solving for the height of my can. i used the calculator today and yes very helpful, it made it easier because it didnt mess me up or get me confused with any other problems i was working on.it kept me organized,

My group helped eachother by helping measure the products we had, we accomplished a lot today, we got to measure our cans and calculate the volume and surface area of our cans. we used our thinking skills ability to calculate the radius, we use these skills outside of school because everything that revolves around us have to do with math, for example when buying an item you have to calculate the tax and the total or if the items on sale you have to do the math how mch money you will be saving.

Question for wan:

1. I found my can and its bread crums, different name brand but same 15oz so do i still have to do the exercise we just did all over again?

we compared two functions by writing them in the spread sheet to find the points then by graphing them and also changing the signs, when i changed the signs for the function and looked in the graph and i noticed that the shape of the graph just flips, the categories was y1=6^2*x^5 and y2= -6^2*x5, and i have to the 5th degree so it was 36*x^5. I did not have 1st, 2nd, 3rd, nor 4th degree.

1. i learned how its easier to use google docs for graphing the tables and graph.

2. on e major problem i had was that the computer didn't want to show the cross so i can then drag to get all the answers. but then wan helped me another way.

We all almost done with our project just waitinq on grace to give us the body and we all have to do the work refrences together. we have enough information & were very specific :]

progress report 2 update

the title of our project is FedEx Express vs. FedEx Ground,we generalize and worked real hard. in order to find the height we knew that it would be the same as our x because that's the way is set up, we found our width depending on our designs. for example my design was 2x so what ever my x was i had to multiply it by 2. to find our girth was 2(w+h)so we had to add the hight and width then multiply that by 2. to find our length we had to subtract the total from girth. finally to find our volume we had to multiply length x width x height and that's how we found our max volume nd lowest point.

we set up our axes by comparing all our graphs and we all had different designs nd different max points for example my design had the highest point it all depends on our design because i had multiplication as well as grace, nd amanda n sha'Eika had addition involved in their design. on the point that was on x axis our highest poin was 20,000 and on our y axis highest point was 99000.

we all had to use different tables because our designs are different and all our outcomes were different. some of our volumes was completely different likee there was more negative numbers of volume onmy other group members than mine, also we all used different methods.

i realized that while my x decreases my volume increases for my table for fedEx Ground and think that is because i used multiplication instead of addition, i believe my group members noticed the differences in their tables too. i believe this project has helped us alot for the questions we had.

well wan my group is doing very well we basically done, we all havee our charts and are finishing the graphing each chart has its x, height,length, width, girth and volume. we all found our max volume, and we did both FedEx Express which total was 130 and all our designs are different and work :] also we used FedEx Ground which total was 84. we knew that to find the girth was 2(w+h) and we knew that to find the volume we had to do L x W x H, also we knew to find our length we had to subtract girth from total. Hopefully we get a real good grade because we all have been working real hard.
